Our school is consulting with our parents, carers, students, staff, trade unions and the local community on the proposals to form a multi academy trust (MAT) along with like minded schools.
To learn more about what this will mean for you, your child and the wider community, we have provided some frequently asked questions and answers about Academies and MATs.

Consultation Update – October 2020
At our Governors meeting on 12th October 2020 it was noted that in line with the on-going and in-depth discussions about forming a Multi Academy Trust with Riverside Primary Academy, the Governing Body have undertaken a consultation exercise with stakeholders including parents, carers, staff and other interested parties and have carefully considered their views. It was noted that the consultation process took place for a period of three weeks between Wednesday 16th September and Wednesday 7th October 2020.
IT WAS RESOLVED that it would be in the interests of Whickham School to continue to work with Riverside Primary Academy with the ambition of forming a Multi-Academy Trust, and as such the Governing Body supports the submission of an application to the Department of Education.
Consultation public event
5:30pm on 29th September 2020
As part of our MAT consultation we will be holding a live event via video link. We will be using Microsoft Teams Live event that will be available to everyone with internet access (you do not need a Teams account). Simply click on the link below or cut and paste it into your web browser. You will be able to pose questions using the message function in the video presentation and then see and hear the panel discussing and answering your questions/comments.
